Kids are welcome at Duff House and there is plenty for them to see and do inside the House and outside in the Grounds.
Why not start your visit by picking up a free copy of our new guidebook written by children for children? It’s called Duff House through the ages, and it’s full of facts and information about the house and the people who lived and worked here. Just ask the staff in the Shop for your very own copy. We also have quizzes to help spot unusual and sometimes hidden objects around the House. Depending on the time of year you come you could mix a witch's brew and hunt for bats or search for Easter eggs hidden about the place.
If you look carefully you will spot all sorts of animals inside Duff House. Some are real, some are fantastical and some are imaginary. Many are used as decoration from materials such as plaster, wood, metal, china or textiles.
Outside is a brilliant play area with lots of rides and an assault course for those of you brave enough to try it. If you visit us in October then you are in luck as directly around the House are some magnificent horse chestnut trees. Collecting conkers is just one of the good things you can do when the House is closed. We also have bats roosting in the surrounding trees which can be spotted flying low round the House at dusk. Other wildlife seen and heard in the area are owls, birds of prey and red squirrels.
If you like dressing up and fancy yourself as an actor then why not bring your family down to Duff House next summer. We will have dressing up clothes for you to try on inside the house and a children’s theatre show performing outside in the grounds. Its great fun and we think it’s a little bit different.
