Local man William Rose was factor to the 2nd Earl for over 30 years from about 1763-95. The family lived at Montcoffer by the River Deveron. The Earl was very fond of his factor and liked to tease him about his love of food and dislike of exercise. William and his wife Mary, who was once described as an exceptionally beautiful woman, had 12 children and some their descendants recently visited us from England and Adelaide.
